AFIF ALL FANS IN FOOTBALL

Are you happy with the way the laws of football have been changed?

If you have been watching football for more than 10 years as I have, then I would be very surprised if you did.

I have been a football fan for more than 70 years and hope to do so for many years.

However there are several rules that I would like to see changed before I leave this wonderful world and with the support of fellow football lovers believe this could be done.

The first rule I would like to see changed is the award of penalties for handball. We all like fairness in all walks of life but it is hardly fair if a free shot of goal from 12yards is given to an attacking team against a defending goalkeeper who is not allowed to move until the ball is kicked.

The original penalty award was for “deliberate ” handball but this has not been the case for some time now.

A simple rule change could change this and I have a wording which could create this. To make the lawmakers listen to our suggestions I am looking for support and would welcome any examples of penalties which have been awarded which would never be considered “deliberate” handball .

We need to return to the intentions of the original lawmakers.

Football, the beautiful game, is still the finest game in the world and the modern game continues to provide stars who have us jumping out of our seats.

LET THE PUNISHMENT FIT THE CRIME is a phrase that is used in all walks in life and in my home country of Scotland they still have a “NON PROVEN” verdict in their justice system .

We can give our referees a law that tries to ensure that they are absolutely clear that deliberate handball has taken place. If there is any doubt at all and there have clearly been many examples of this in recent years , especially when the VAR monitor had to watched many times.

The NON PROVEN system should be applied to the awarding of penalties.
